Hom Yoga Singapore | Hot Yoga Singapore

MALVINA RISBY

Malvina Risby is the Founder of Hom Yoga Singapore and Australia. She started dancing ballet in her childhood and teenage years, and her love for dance naturally led her to the yoga room.

Ten years ago, she took her first hot yoga class and felt a complete physical detoxification and a deep sense of inner peace she has never felt before. Since then, she has studied and practiced yoga as she travelled the world. Malvina's teaching style is mainly influenced by Bikram and Baron Baptiste.

Malvina believes yoga should be fun and accessible. She hopes Hom Yoga to inspire a warm and joyful experience, where students can embark on their yoga journey in a personalized and intimate manner.

Malvina grew up in Singapore and Canada and received a BA in International Relations and Journalism from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Malvina now lives between Sydney and Singapore with her husband and moodle puppy.

SAN LAI

San's first experience with yoga was when she was living in Canada back in 1998 where she was studying for her Bachelor's degree in Abnormal Psychology.

From Canada to Thailand to Singapore and India, San has been practicing yoga passionately for the last 12 years. She has participated in Canadian Hatha Yoga Training in Ottawa and Moksha Hot Yoga Teacher's Training in Thailand. She had also spent a good amount of time in an Ashram in India. She has taught many different styles of Yoga in different cities and now is a happy member of Hom Yoga.

You will feel the positive vibe and passionate energy of San the second you meet her. From beginners to advanced levels, San is always ready to guide you on your yogic journey – the same journey, with Love, Patience and Compassion, that transformed and changed her life.

When San is not teaching, she spends most of her time with her angelic baby girl or climbing up some cliff in Thailand. And do not be fooled by her Mohawk, she only uses it to enhance her vertically-challenged stature ;)

KIKI BIANCA-TAN

Now from Kembangan (but originally from Colorado, USA), Kiki caught the travel bug and came to Asia in 2005. While teaching English in Thailand, she explored South East Asia extensively and came upon yoga as a way to offset long bus rides on bumpy roads.

Her practice began as a solo journey and Kiki found different yogic practices everywhere she went. When she finally settled in Singapore her practice took on a more formal exploration and she embarked on an extended “hot journey” with Hom Yoga.

Kiki completed a 200-hour hot yoga teacher training in Costa Rica with Gabrielle Scanlon and is deeply grateful for the additional guidance from Sara Avant, Dr Yogi Ram, Kathryn Budig and the team at Hom Singapore.

Kiki brings passion to her teaching, grounded in a spiritual, ethical practice. In addition, Kiki has a background in sports medicine, having been a trainer in NCAA sports and a USPTA tennis teaching professional. Her knowledge of physiology and kinesiology give her the basis to guide students who have individual physical conditions, bringing their practice safely to the next level.

ALICIA PAN

Alicia discovered yoga in 2005 while living in Taipei. Many of her good friends were yoga teachers who encouraged her to try yoga to help alleviate the stresses of her demanding singing career. It turned out to be just the remedy.

What began as an occasional practice, became her main fitness and relaxation pursuit; which provided her with much-needed space to focus inwards and forget about the world outside.

She is an intense lover of hot yoga and flowing, challenging sequences as she has a voracious appetite for physical exertion in her practice.

Over the past two years, Alicia completed a 200-hour Teacher Training course in Singapore, followed by a more in depth 500-hour yoga programme. To her, a solid foundation is key to a good practice and therefore she believes that hands-on adjustments is important for good alignment.

FAITH ONG

Faith first chanced upon hot yoga while participating in a shopathon 4 years ago! One of her missions was to attend a Bikram Yoga introductory class. At the end of the short trial class, Faith found a sense of inner peace that she had never felt before. The next day, she found herself attending a full 90-min Bikram class, and she never looked back again.

Faith is certified in both Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

Her favourite quote is "Keep practicing and all will come!" Faith loves how her yoga mat has taught her many valuable life lessons.

Off the mat, Faith is a dedicated biologist. She believes firmly that a combination of modern medical science and ancient yogic science will help to improve healthcare for all. And so here she is, a happy member of Hom Yoga!
